Kingsman Fireplace – Options & Popular Choices

Kingsman craftsmanship and design is appreciated throughout North America. With dealers across the county and a wide selection of quality product there is no reason why you should not choose a Kingsman fireplace.

Kingsman has free standing stoves and beautiful gas fireplaces that have been tested and refined to provide the best appearance, performance, and value.

Back in 1976 Russell Reyher made his first stove which was sold under the most respected name in the industry Kingsman. In 1983 he engineered a complete line of gas fireplaces and stoves but at that time gas was not recognized. Little did anyone know that in the future it would be the most popular fuel source.

Today almost all Kingsman products have been sold under other names. In 1996 they began marketing under their own name. There goal was to become recognized as the leader in quality and reliable product. They offer four popular fireplace choices.

1. Wood Burning
Can be fueled with pellets, logs, artificial logs, or wood. Place it in your family room or living room for those wonderful family gatherings. There’s something about a fire that just seems to bring a family together.

2. Direct Vent Gas
These fireplaces have a coaxial vent system of a pipe in a pipe for the exhaust. This system is totally sealed so air quality in your home is never compromised and you can vent horizontally. If wood is not an option natural gas is always a great option. You can still enjoy the flickering flames and warm embers.

3. Vented Gas
This system uses a B vent or air cooled pipe which uses the room air for combustion and exhaust. The vented appliances can use an existing chimney just by installing a gas flex liner, a proper rain cap, and flashing. Any of the gas style fireplaces are a great way to increase family time.

4. Vent Free Gas
There is no chimney needed for this system and it can be used in almost any room with proper ventilation. The Btu plays a role in the type of installation that’s acceptable.

Kingsman also produces a full line of stoves to heat up your favorite room. These free standing stoves are available in wood and gas. Enjoy the dancing flames and glowing embers in either version. This is an efficient heating option that’s also sets a wonderful room ambiance.

Gas Fireplace – Points to Ponder before Purchasing

Do you have an existing wood-burning fireplace? If so, you might consider purchasing a gas insert to transform that wood-burning firebox into one that talks in terms of BTUs. The great thing about gas inserts is that you can utilize the existing fireplace and chimney, so you don’t have to worry about venting.

What will be your energy source for your new gas fireplace? If you have central heat and other appliances that use natural gas supplied by your city or town, you are in luck! You can run the necessary pipes and tap into the gas supply to fuel your fireplace. A word of caution: Unless you are positively certain you know what you are doing, consult a professional before tapping into the natural gas flow into your home. If you do not have natural gas, you will have to purchase a propane tank and install in on your property before running the plumbing pipes to tap into it.

Which venting option will you choose? With a gas fireplace, you basically have three choices: direct venting, top venting and no venting. Top venting is accomplished through a metal pipe that extends out through your roof or utilizes an existing chimney. In the direct venting option, a short flue vents straight through the wall above the fireplace area. This way allows for air from outside to be used instead of the air in your home. Finally, the ventless option is for that gas fireplace that will not be used a lot. In other words, it is really just for backup in case the electricity or central heat goes out.

What are you trying to heat with your gas fireplace? Examine your heating needs thoroughly to determine what option is best for you. Will it be your primarily source of heat or is it going to be supplemental to your existing heating system? For some people that have electric or gas central heat, a gas fireplace is really just an aesthetic design element for their room. They use it to set the mood in their living space.

One final thought to ponder before purchasing a gas fireplace is what you want it to look like. With a gas insert, the choices are limited. However, if you are installing your own or choosing a freestanding option, your horizons are expanded. You can match the look of your fireplace to your room’s design and style. From wood to metal to masonry, there are multiple options. And just remember, if you are converting from a wood-burning fireplace to a gas operated one, you don’t have to chop and haul firewood around anymore!

Fireplace Brands

Of the thirty most popular fireplace brands, there are some very interesting styles and materials used today. For anyone thinking that the fireplace is large the same thing it has always been, with few improvements or changes in styles, nothing could be farther from the truth.

Interestingly, as the fireplace becomes smaller and more attention has become fixated on the mantelpiece, the styling of the modern fireplace have tended to focus on smaller areas, rather than the sweeping design changes of the past centuries.

The Dimplex fireplace company offers many electric fireplace models that include all the style of traditional fireplaces with the convenience of push button fireplace heating. The Newport model, for example, offers a romantic ambiance of a fireplace without any of the work or danger of having a wood burning fire.

Since no venting is required for electric fireplaces, these types of fireplaces can be installed anywhere. The Dimplex company uses what they call “electraflame” to produce realistic flame technology with a wide range of style options.

One nice thing about the electraflame fireplaces made by the Dimplex company is that you can have the look of a fire with or without the heat. These electric fireplaces can be plugged in to a regular 120 volt outlet. Since you can choose heat or no heat, these fireplaces are perfect for running any time of the year that you want that fire ambience.

If you do opt for the heat producing variety of electric fire, the Newport model provides up to 5000 BTU / hour of radiating heat. Though it can be nice to have a fireplace that doesn’t necessarily put off heat, it can also be a great option to have some localized heat for the colder days in the year. The radiating heat produced by this electric fireplace is circulated with the aid of a fan.

This model of electric fireplace also includes and adjustable thermostat that will keep the heat output of the fireplace within your comfort zone. This means that you do not have to constantly keep an eye on the fireplace or the heat it puts out. This is just another advantage to having an electric fireplace, as wood burning fireplaces must be under constant supervision.

The glass that covers the fireplace will remain safe to the touch whether the heat is not being produced or is going full blast. This makes the fireplace particularly safe for children and pets to be around.

Another advantage of electric fireplaces is that they do not contribute to moisture problems as many un-vented gas fireplaces tend to do. Of course adding heat to your home in general will tend to dry out the air and you may find the need for a humidifier during the coldest months of the year.

For a look at some of the different fireplace styles and fireplace brands, take a look at http://www.fireplacesnow.com/ . Here you’ll find a list of manufacturers, pictures of different fireplaces, as well as several other invaluable resources you can use to determine which type of fireplace will best meet your needs.

Circular Gas Fireplaces Benefits

Circular gas fireplaces are a superb way of making the most of the heat that is produced by a roaring fire. When more of the fire is exposed to the room, more of the heat will radiate and warm the room, as opposed to going up and out the chimney.

These same principles are what make corner fireplaces and u-shaped fireplaces so nice. These types of fireplaces increase the draft of air that reaches the fire itself. This also effects a hotter burning fire, as more oxygen is fed to the fire.

Another effect that a circular, u-shaped or corner fireplace has is that the fuel will be used up much faster. This is not always the case, but you should be aware of the possibility if the cost or availability of fireplace fuel may be a problem.

Fuel doesn’t necessarily have to be used up much faster in these configurations. Particularly for the u-shaped and corner placed fireplaces, the use of draft vets and fireplace doors or curtains can counter the effect of increased fresh air drafts.

Of course changing the amount of air that is let in by draft vents and the like will generally also impact the amount of heat that is allowed to escape into the room as well. It may take some time to carefully balance these and other factors until you find just the right combination.

One of the most unique circular gas fireplaces that I’ve seen is a circular globe fireplace. Made of metal, and suitable for either gas or wood burning fires, this globe shaped fireplace is split horizontally in the middle, with each half separated from the other by a few feet. This is where the fire goes.

The globe circular fireplace that I saw looked as though the top portion of the globe was suspended in midair, where the bottom portion had an elegant metallic brazier effect. This circular fireplace was called a globe fireplace because on each half was affixed metallic landmasses representing the continents of the earth.

This globe fireplace was made of a particularly dark metal of some kin so that the base and top portion where it attached to the ceiling seemed to subtly fade into the distance, rather than ending abruptly. Of course the fact that all attention is instantly drawn to the fire helps this effect as well.

The type of fireplace like this that I’ve seen was situated half inside one great hall type of room, with the other half protruding into two smaller rooms, such that each corner of those rooms had access to the warmth and glow of the fire. Of course these were also main rooms where privacy was not a critical factor.

I’ve heard stories about two-sided fireplaces in bedrooms where visitors were able to accidentally view the activities of the other room. –certainly not a situation that anyone wants to discover on their own.

One of the nicest things about a circular electric fireplace is that the fire is visible from all sides of the fireplace. This makes it a wonderful type of fireplace for positioning in the middle of a large room or collection of rooms.
